I think that tagging is a very useful way to organize digital resources.  I have moved buildings the past two years.  It is a pain to transfer bookmarks from one computer in one building to the new computer in another building.  Also a group of teachers in one building all working together can put together a great set of resources that will benefit the teacher as well as all students.  The advantages are in the collaboration and getting the best of the best.  The disadvantage might be getting everyone to tag things in the same fashion so that these things are easy to locate.  I think knowing the tags you are going to use before hand is important.  Everyone in the building or department must be using the same lingo and tags.
