Thing 11

I like the ability to interact on a subject that interests me.  Sometimes I do not like reading all of the comments before making my own.  Sometimes your almost feel pressured to leave a comment on something.

I felt good receiving my first comment.  That let me know that someone had actually looked at what I was saying.  Just being heard sometimes is enough.

For a community to work it must have interaction.  I feel this is the reason why commenting is so important.  Since people in an online community cannot interact in person it must happen through commenting.

For some students it will be an opportunity to be heard which they may not be in person.  Others just an opportunity to share their work might be enough.  Keeping/getting students engaged is what it is all about.  However, students must be ready for the interaction and comments that they might receive.

Yes, even adults have trouble accepting criticism. For some reason, the fact that they have made their writing PUBLIC hasn't dawned on them.
Keep up your own writing.
