The main hurdle that I can see is access to computers both at school and at home for students to use and contribute to the wiki. The other hurdle would be the time to get it started and monitoring the site so that students do not make inappropriate changes to the site.
Having easy access to computers at school would remove a major hurdle. Learning the best way to quickly monitor and use the wiki on my part would also remove a major hurdle. I think in the long run, using technology like this, is worth the fight. Students must become more involved and hands on in their learning.
